The Pulling Elbow™There are some jobs where leaving it in the ceiling is the cheapest way to go! NOTE: Use a single 14" Tie Wrap, or put two 8" Tie Wraps together to close the ends of the Tunnel.
Each end of the Tunnel has a convenient slot to hold a standard width Tie Wrap.
Just snip the Tie Wraps at the two ends of the Tunnel to remove the cables, or leave The Pulling Elbow™ in the ceiling.
If you're using more than one Pulling Elbow™ to go around two or more corners (at once), you'll probably need someone paying out the cable from the boxes to help you.

Some Tie Wrap Facts:
Tie Wraps shouldn't be left in the sun (like on a dashboard or seat). The nylon material will dry out, making the Tie Wrap brittle and break when it's tightened. You can fix dried out Tie Wraps by putting a few drops of water in the bag and sealing it. They nylon will absorb the moisture, and the Tie Wrap will be good as new.
Tie Wraps will dry out if left in an opened bag. Use them up, or put a couple of drops of water in the bag and reseal it. Clear packing tape works OK. Seal it well so it's air tight.
Tie Wraps shouldn't be left in freezing weather. The moisture in the nylon will create microscopic cracks that will permanently damage the Tie Wrap. They'll be more likely to break when tightened.
All of our Tie Wraps are packed in bags of 100 even if we sell them in 500 quantity, since you don't want to open a bag and have it laying around, drying out. Work out of one bag as much as possible!
It's best to use Telephone Gray or Black Tie Wraps outside. They are UV resistant, and are better than Natural outside.
Once a Tie Wrap is tightened on cable (indoors, that doesn't move), the Tie Wrap will dry out but hold the cable just fine since there's no motion. Don't over tighten the Tie Wrap, which will deform the cable.
Use our Velcro Tie Wraps on CAT5 or CAT6 cable, since deforming data cable can effect Ethernet speeds (voice usually doesn't care unless you get crazy tightening the Tie Wrap).

Teflon Tie Wraps are Required in Air Plenum Return Ceilings
When standard Tie Wraps burn, they lot off toxic gas. If they're in a ceiling that's used for the air return on the HVAC system (where the returns aren't ducted), they will distribute the toxic gas to other spaces that aren't on fire, where the people will die (even though there's no fire). You would use Teflon cable in air plenum return ceilings, for the same reason.
Teflon doesn't let off toxic gas when it's burned, so it's safe to use in the plenum return to bundle cables. You don't want to use in premises with a ducted return, since they're incredibly expensive!

A little history:
Although phone men have been trying to fish both insulated and un-insulated walls with 1/8" fish tapes for years, they quickly found that the fish would simply coil up inside the wall, and pretty much never come out. That's because the 1/8" fish retains it's coiled memory, so it coils up inside the wall just like it did when it was stored.
In the early 1980's Harris Seltzer, a phone man I worked with at General Dynamics, showed me the magic of the 1/4" fish. It's twice as wide as the regular 1/8" fish (the 1/8" fish was made for fishing pipes, not fishing walls). The extra width and weight of the 1/4" fish helps it to stay flat after it's uncoiled (unlike the 1/8" fish). The extra width means you can feed the fish out along on a suspended ceiling and it will go straight... and you can fish either up or down a wall - and the fish goes straight up or down.
The problem with the 1/4" steel fish was that it was difficult to uncoil and the coil back up, and it's heavy. A new technology has allowed a 1/4" Fiberglass Fish to be made with all of the benefits of a steel fish - and none of the drawbacks!
