Toll
Restrictor Instructions
The Toll Restrictor prevents phone calls that begin
with the number "0" or "1" and the prefix 976, the
information number 411, and any phone number with more than seven
digits. The only exceptions are phone numbers specifically allowed by
you using the programming method described below. You may also change
the digit limit. It never prevents dialing 911. You may override the
restrictions with your four digit personal code.
To Change your Personal Code:
Dial 10+2222 (factory preset personal code). Wait for
a dial tone. Dial 1040 and wait for a dial tone. Enter XXXX (your new
personal code). You will hear a single beep, then hang up. If there is a
number you dial that begins with "10" be sure your new
personal code is not the same as the first four digits of that number.
We strongly recommend that you WRITE DOWN your new personal code
and place it where you can find it if you happen to forget the code. There
is no way to recover from a lost personal code except to return the Toll
Restrictor to the factory for a complete reset (takes 2 to 3 weeks).
To Bypass the Restrictions:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial any number without restriction except those that begin with
"10". To dial a number that begins with"10" see the
next step.
To Bypass the Restrictions for a Number Beginning
with "10":
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1093 and wait for a dial tone. You may now dial any local or long
distance number or any sequence of digits you may need for telephone
pagers, telephone bank transactions or the like. When you hang up full
restrictions will be automatically restored.
To Temporarily Permit All Outgoing Calls:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1057 and you will hear a single beep. Wait for a dial tone, then
hang up. The telephone may now be dialed without restriction
To Re-establish Restrictions and Programming:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1062 and you will hear a single beep. Wait for a dial tone, then
hang up. All call restrictions and previous programming are restored.
To Program Your Toll Restrictor to Permit Certain
Long Distance Calls:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1034 and wait for a dial tone. Enter any toll number as you would
normally dial it followed by the # key. If you don’t have a # key
simply wait four seconds and your number will be accepted. A single beep
will confirm that the number has been accepted into memory. You may
permit all numbers in an area code or prefix by entering just the area
code or prefix or an area code and prefix to be allowed. Enter the #
sign (or wait four seconds) after you enter the area code or area code
and prefix. A single beep will confirm your entry.
It is not necessary to enter your personal code for
each number you wish to allow. After each entry you will hear a single
beep. Wait for a new dial tone and enter the next number to be allowed.
When you have entered all the number you wish to allow simply hang up.
When the memory is full you will hear two beeps instead of a single one
(20 digit limit). No more numbers may then be entered.
To Change the Digit Limit Restriction:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1076 and wait for a dial tone. Enter a two digit number (00 through
99). You must dial in two digits, you would enter a digit limit of 7 as
07. This will be the number of digits that may be dialed without
restriction if the first digits are not "0" or "1".
The factory default is 7 digits. If you enter 00 no outgoing calls will
be allowed. If you enter 99 there will be no digit limit.
To Set the Optional Call Timer (you must have
bought the model with this Option!):
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1089 and wait for a dial tone. Enter in a two digit number (00
through 99). This will be the number of minutes that any call may last.
If you enter 00 the call timer will be disabled. The call time
effects any outgoing or incoming call even if the number is in the
memory of allowed phone numbers. The call timer will beep once
at 30 seconds remaining and beep twice at 15 seconds remaining. At 0
seconds the call will be cut off. To override the timer for a single
call, wait 40 seconds after dialing or answering your call and enter
your personal code.
To Clear the Memory of Allowed Number and Restore
Factory Defaults:
Dial 10+ your personal code. Wait for a dial tone.
Dial 1021. You will hear a single beep. Wait for a dial tone and hang
up. The memory is cleared of all programmed numbers and all factory
defaults are reset except your personal code. Digit limit is 7, Call
Timer is off, Restrictions are on.
NOTE: Older model Toll Restrictors
used 11, instead of 10 (as above) to access programming.
