The Telemarketer Destroyer™

From the company who brought you the Telemarketer Stopper™ in 1999...

The Telemarketer Destroyer™

Don't Get Mad... Get Even!

Send the next Telemarketer who calls you a message
that...
You really don't want another call from them!

Click HERE to hear the MP3 of what you'd play to the Telemarketer from your PC (546K)

Please turn your speakers down before playing!

Simply put, the Telemarketer Destroyer™ plays a short nonsensical conversation that will make the Telemarketer turn up their headset volume, and try to listen to what's being said. After about 20 seconds, a very loud and annoying tone will play from your PC through your phone's handset, to the headset pressed tightly to the ears of the person who's been calling you at dinner time, early in the morning, or late at night (Oh, but it's not 10:30PM here in India?!?).

You can make any message/sound you'd like with a PC sound editor and microphone (the raw tone file is at the end of this page). If you'd like to share something you've created that's particularly effective (and not obscene), send it to us and we'll post it at the end of this page.

The Telemarketer Destroyer™ will tell Telemarketers and Bill Collectors that:

"I'm not going to take it any more!"

...in a way they won't be able to ignore.

The Telemarketer Destroyer™ connects to the handset jack of most modern phones (with an electret transmitter) with a dial in the base...  Digital phones, electronic phones, VoIP phones, office phones... and any phone that has the dial in the base.

Just connect it to the speaker output of the PC Sound Card or a portable MP3 Player (with the annoying sound file), and click to play. It's just "asking" the Telemarketer to stop calling you in a more forceful way than you've been able to in the past (they haven't listened to your previous complaints, have they?).

Swearing, screaming or yelling at a Telemarketer doesn't do any good. They've heard it before, and they'll hear it again in the next few minutes. Making it painful for them to call you is another story... While it gives you a chuckle, keeps your blood pressure down, saves your voice, and  it won't scare the kids or dog.

The Telemarketer Destroyer™ comes with a Stereo Y Adapter so you can leave your speakers connected at the same time, and it has a switch to allow you to turn the audio feed to your phone on or off when needed - while the speakers on your PC still work.

NOTE:  Due to the design of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), telephones and headsets, there is no danger of hurting the Telemarketer's hearing when you play the loud tone to them. The volume of the tone is limited, but it's designed to startle a Telemarketer who's thinking a human will answer.

The Telemarketer Destroyer™ should not be used to call out to callers. There are laws against harassing individuals and businesses over the phone by calling them repeatedly. With today's modern telephone network it's unlikely your number wouldn't be identified (dialing *67 to block your Caller ID is useless when calling an 800 number).  That said, most of us are wondering why it's legal for the Telemarketers to call us even once?

The purpose of the Telemarketer Destroyer™ is to suggest to Telemarketers that they get a different type of job. I'm not sure where Telemarketing companies find people to take the kind of abuse they must take every day, all day long, but with enough people using the Telemarketer Destroyer™ to send these workers a message, the Telemarketing companies will be forced out of business.

While we can't post obscene recordings that you play to Telemarketers here, it got me wondering why all of the Telemarketers and Bill Collectors aren't suing their employers for sexual harassment?  When they're told to "Go ***k yourself" several times an hour in the course of their employment (and maybe something worse), you'd think these employees would simply sue their employers for sexual harassment, and never have to work another day in their lives?!?

"It's not like it's a secret that people hate being called at dinner!"

The real reason Telemarketers keep calling is that some of us are buying their stuff, which as often as not is a rip-off anyway. If we all stopped buying their stuff, they'd go away. Same story for email SPAM.

While you or I can fight these people one way or another, older people like our parents are prime targets for telemarketers that take advantage of them. It's a scary story, but the New York Times has an incredible four page story of a gang of crooked Telemarketers making calls right this second:

If you're using older phones (with carbon transmitters), Trimline style dial-in-handset phones, or cordless phones without a handset, just get a cheap modern phone with the dial in the base, and put it by your PC with the Telemarketer Destroyer™ attached.

Another way to fight Telemarketers is just keeping them on the line for as long as possible, wasting their time. Tom Mabe, a comedian who specializes in yanking the chains of Telemarketers around the country, was on The Bob & Tom Radio Show. If you listen to Tom making this Telemarketer's day the worst in his life, it should give you some great ideas for your next Telemarketer call:

In 1999, Mike Sandman Enterprises, Inc. came out with the
Telemarketer Stopper™, the first device that played the SIT Tone
(the three tones you hear from the Phone Company when a number is disconnected) automatically when you answered the phone, which told the predictive dialer used by Telemarketers that your phone line was disconnected.

Unfortunately some "dialing for dollars" is done by humans, who don't have a predictive dialer, and who are less easily fooled into hanging up.

Click HERE to hear a SIT tone (45K)

Download the audio file to use with your Telemarketer Destroyer™, or play it back on your own device. To save the file, right click the link, and save the file to your hard drive (and then to your MP3 Player?). Remember, it would be impolite to let the Telemarketer hear you laughing after you play this:

Hello, Hello, then unintelligible speech and the very loud tone (550K)

Very loud tone alone.  Works great! (240K)

These audio files, including the SIT tone, are free. There is no Copyright claimed on them.
